Telangana Election Result 2023 Highlights: The Congress had an emphatic win bagging 64 of the 118 seats it contested from. It gave one seat to CPI where the communist party emerged victorious. The nearly 10 year-old rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) came to an end on Sunday, even as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao tendered resignation from his post, which was accepted by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. AIMIM won 6 seats and was leading in one. With this win, Telangana has become the second southern state in Congress’ kitty in 2023, after it emerged triumphant in Karnataka in the May polls.

Counting of votes polled in the November 30 Telangana Assembly elections began at 8 AM on Sunday. Telangana Elections 2023 to the 119-member Legislative Assembly took place on Thursday which witnessed a voter turnout of 70.60 per cent. Several exit polls placed the Congress ahead in the southern state. With 60 being the magic figure, most exit polls have predicted Congress advantage.
The Congress’ good show sparked off celebrations by party workers. Jubilant mood prevailed at the residence of Revanth Reddy and the party’s state headquarters in Hyderabad. Celebrations broke out at Gandhi Bhavan, the party office, where overjoyed workers were seen setting off crackers and raising “Jai Congress” and “Revanth Anna Zindabad” slogans.

News 24-Today’s Chankaya gave a clear victory to the Congress by giving it 71 seats against 33 of the BRS and 7 of the BJP. The India Today-Axis My India survey has given a clear win for the Congress, crossing the majority mark of 60. It predicted the Congress would get 63-73 seats, BRS to follow with 34-44 seats, BJP 4-8 seats and Others 5-8.

Most exit polls have given Congress advantage in Telangana. While India TV-CNX forecast 63-79 seats for the Congress, 31-47 for the BRS, 2-4 for the BJP and 5-7 for the AIMIM, Jan Ki Baat forecast that the Congress would get 48-64 seats, the BRS would get 40-55, BJP 7-13 and AIMIM 4-7. Republic TV-Matrize has predicted Congress would get 58-68 seats, BRS 46-56, BJP 4-9 and AIMIM 5-7, while TV9 Bharatvarsh Polstrat projected that the Congress would get 49-56 seats, the BRS would get 48-58, the BJP 5-10 and AIMIM 6-8.
A voter turnout of 71.34 per cent of the eligible 3.26 crore electors was recorded in elections to the 119-member Legislative Assembly on November 30. The Munugode Assembly constituency recorded the highest 91.89 per cent voter turnout while Yakutpura segment recorded the lowest with 39.64 per cent. The fate of 2,290 candidates have been sealed.
Every counting centre will have 14 counting tables except for six constituencies where the number of polling stations is more than 500 and at such places 28 counting tables will be used. Every counting centre will have three cordons consisting of central security forces and state armed police force on the day of counting. All the EVMs have been sealed and 40 companies of CAPF have been deployed for guarding the EVM strongrooms and for the counting, and CCTV cameras have been put up in strongrooms.

In the 2018 Telangana elections, the BRS had won 87 seats and 47 per cent of the vote share in the state. The Prajakutami (People’s Alliance), forged by the Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI, won 22 seats. The AIMIM won seven seats, Independents two and the BJP one. KCR returned for a second term as chief minister after being unanimously elected as leader of the TRS Legislature Party.
