Republic Day 2025 Highlights: ‘Let’s build a nation we can proudly pass on to next generations’: SRK’s message on R-Day

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted India‘s democratic legacy and its ambitious goals during his Republic Day address, stating, “We are the world’s largest democracy and the mother of democracy.”

He emphasised the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “PM Modi’s mission is to build an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ to achieve a $5 trillion economy, and to establish India as a ‘Vishwaguru’ on the global stage.”

Encouraging collective effort, Gadkari urged, “We all should take a pledge to make the country the third-largest economy in the world.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unfurled the national flag in Lucknow, marking the historic day with a tribute to India‘s journey as a sovereign democratic republic.

“On this day in 1950, India implemented its Constitution, embarking on a new journey as a sovereign democratic republic. After a long and arduous struggle, our country achieved independence on August 15, 1947,” the Chief Minister stated.

Reflecting on the contributions of India’s freedom fighters, he added, “Many great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad played pivotal roles in liberating the nation. Today, as we celebrate 75 years since the implementation of our Constitution, I pay homage to those martyrs and heroes who secured our freedom.

On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar ceremonially unfurled the national flag, reflecting on the nation’s journey and achievements. “Republic Day is always a moment of immense pride for the country. We have accomplished much and look forward to achieving even more,” he remarked.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Jaishankar noted the presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the special guest. “In 1950, during the first Republic Day, the Indonesian President was our guest. It’s fitting that on this 75th anniversary, Indonesia is represented once again. The bonds between our nations are deep—geographically, culturally, politically, and historically. I’m confident today will be a joyous occasion for the entire nation,” he added.

The Indian Air Force’s flypast begins with the majestic ‘dhwaj’ formation. The formation’s name translates to flag formation and is typically executed during significant events, such as Republic Day celebrations, air shows, and other ceremonial occasions.

The aircraft are flown in a distinctive inverted ‘Y’ shape and prominently features helicopters, particularly the Mi-17 IV or Chetak helicopters

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, paying tribute to the architects of the Constitution.

“Happy Republic Day,” the Prime Minister wrote in a post on X.

He added, “Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity, and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts toward preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India.”

Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda marked the occasion of the 76th Republic Day by distributing sweets among security personnel, honoring their service and dedication.

President Droupadi Murmu and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive at Kartavya Path in the ‘Traditional Buggy’. Reviving a historic tradition, the two Presidents will be escorted by the President’s Bodyguard in the ‘Traditional Buggy’, a regal practice reintroduced in 2024.

Reflecting on India’s journey through history and achievements, the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ celebrates the fusion of cultural legacy and modern advancements.

In her address, President Murmu highlighted the potential of the “One Nation One Election” concept to streamline governance, reduce financial burdens, and ensure policy stability, advocating for a transformative approach to electoral reforms.

Continuing the tradition of inviting distinguished world leaders, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will preside as the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations. This underscores India’s diplomatic ties and growing global partnerships.

This year’s Republic Day Parade will commence at 10:30 AM, marking a celebration of India’s heritage and progress. Kartavya Path, formerly known as Rajpath, will host the grand event featuring a display of military might and cultural diversity.

The preparations for the Republic Day parade have intensified, with authorities implementing stringent security measures across the city. The visuals from Tilak Marg show heightened vigilance, with barricades and thorough police inspections in place to ensure safety.
