Raebareli Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result Highlights: The result for the Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh are out as Congress Rahul Gandhi emerged victorious by a margin of over 4 lakh votes. Raebareli contest was a battle of prestige of sorts for the Congress party and the Gandhi family in Uttar Pradesh as it was the grand-old party’s last remaining stronghold. However, the grand-old party managed to retain Raebareli and also regain Amethi, where Kishori Lal Sharma defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani.

The Raebareli seat served as a castle for the Congress as they have won 17 of the 20 Lok Sabha elections contested on this seat (including three bypolls). This time, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi was looking to retain power and was up against BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh and Thakur Prasad Yadav of the BSP.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, former party chief Sonia Gandhi of the Indian National Congress (INC) won this seat defeating Dinesh Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 1,67,178 votes which was 17.44 per cent of the total votes cast for the seat. It was also the only seat on which Congress managed to secure a win of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
