Raebareli Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result Highlights: The result for the Raebareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh are out as Congress Rahul Gandhi emerged victorious by a margin of over 4 lakh votes. Raebareli contest was a battle of prestige of sorts for the Congress party and the Gandhi family in Uttar Pradesh as it was the grand-old party’s last remaining stronghold. However, the grand-old party managed to retain Raebareli and also regain Amethi, where Kishori Lal Sharma defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani.
The Raebareli seat served as a castle for the Congress as they have won 17 of the 20 Lok Sabha elections contested on this seat (including three bypolls). This time, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi was looking to retain power and was up against BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh and Thakur Prasad Yadav of the BSP.

As India voted to elect its 543-member Parliament and now gears up to find out who will form the next government, the Election Commission of India (ECI) began counting votes at 8 am on Tuesday morning. Initially, the postal ballots will be counted and then the counting of EVM votes will begin.
As the opposition criticised the exit poll results and claimed that the outcome would be different, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and BJP MP Dinesh Sharma told PTI, “The opposition criticised the exit polls, but you will see that whether in postal ballots or general votes, there is a possibility for BJP to take a lead.”
The counting of votes to elect the MPs on 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh will begin at 8 am.
The security has been heightened in the Raebareli Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is vying to retain this seat for the INC, as it is the Gandhi family stronghold. Before Rahul, his mother, Sonia Gandhi was elected from the Raebareli constituency.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, former party chief Sonia Gandhi of the Indian National Congress (INC) won this seat defeating Dinesh Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 1,67,178 votes which was 17.44 per cent of the total votes cast for the seat.
