Jamuna Jagdale, relative of an injured in Pahalgam terror attack, says, ” My brother-in-law Suresh Jagdale along with his wife and daughter is visiting Kashmir. He has suffered a bullet injury. We are not able to contact them.”

US Vice President JD Vance, who is currently on India visit, extended condolences to the victims of Pahalgam terror attack.

“Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack,” read Vance’s post on X.

“Following the terror attack in Pahalgam, an alert has been sounded in Delhi. Delhi Police have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance at tourist spots and other key locations,” Delhi Police sources said.

Condemning to the Pahalgam terror attack, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis says, “This attack was attempted at stopping J&K’s journey towards development… Our Prime Minister has taken cognisance. Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching there, and strict action will be taken. I am also in touch with the administration there. Two people from Maharashtra have lost their lives in the terrorist attack…”

A tourist couple from Maharashtra’s Nagpur who were present at the spot of the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, say, “This incident happened when we had just left the place of the incident. We could hear the sound of firing for a long time. Everyone was trying to escape from the place. We never looked back as we just wanted to escape from there.”

Terrorists opened fire at Kashmir’s Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing 26 people, including two foreigners, reports PTI.

Officials called it the deadliest civilian attack since Pulwama 2019, amid peak tourist season.

The terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday claimed the life of Manjunath Rao, a businessman from Shivamogga district in Karnataka, his family confirmed. Rao, 47, had travelled to the popular tourist destination with his wife Pallavi and son Abhijaya.

In an emotional account to local Kannada news channels, Pallavi said, “My husband was shot dead by terrorists in front of our eyes.” She added that when she pleaded with the attackers to kill her too, they chillingly told her to stay alive and deliver a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences and assured all possible support to the bereaved family.

On Pahalgam terrorist attack, Jammu & Kashmir BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul says, “This is a very unfortunate incident. After 2019, such incidents stopped, but they have started again. This is a very sad incident. We condemn this and we warn the neighbouring nation that is behind this incident…”c

BJP leader Tarun Chugh says, “This attack was done to destroy the tourism of Jammu and Kashmir and to destroy brotherhood. Modi government will hunt down each terrorist and the revenge of each and every person who has lost their lives will be taken.”

“We were standing in the stand, and customers had gone to the upper side. At around 2:45 pm, people started running around. When we asked, we found that a gunshot had been fired… We immediately started moving away from this area… This attack will definitely impact tourism here because after this, no matter what we do, we will never be able to win back the trust of people.”

“This act of violence is utterly reprehensible and must not go unpunished,” says Mamata Banerjee.

A local working as a Tourist Police personnel in Pahalgam says, “I rescued three injured persons. Local people rescued all the injured. there.”

Northern Army Commander Lt Gen MV Suchendra Kumar is rushing to Srinagar from New Delhi following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Defence sources said he’ll be briefed by local formation commanders on the prevailing security situation in Kashmir. The Commander was in New Delhi attending a conference when the incident occurred.

“Deeply anguished by the news of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The brutal targeting of innocent civilians in this cowardly attack is highly reprehensible. Modi Government follows a Zero-Tolerance Policy against terrorism. Those involved in this heinous act will not be spared. The Union Home Minister is visiting the affected area, and the Hon. Prime Minister is personally monitoring the situation. We are committed to supporting all the affected families and will provide all necessary assistance,” reads JP Nadda’s tweet on the terror attack.

A businessman from Shivamogga district in Karnataka was shot dead by terrorists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, his family said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled Manjunath Rao’s demise.

Siddaramaiah held a meeting with officials over the incident. A team of officials from Karnataka has left for Kashmir, an official statement said.

On the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh says, “…A high-level neutral investigation should be conducted into the incident as this is a matter related to the border and internal security of the nation. The BJP makes big claims, but again and again, there is failure on the border…Why did this attack happen? Who was behind these attacks?… What was the intelligence doing?…”

A media report showed a woman saying that the terrorists first asked the names of those they attacked. This is how they targeted people from a community.
