Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack Highlights: Opposition gives ‘full support’ to govt during all-party meeting, ‘security lapses’ discussed

The CMO Maharashtra tweeted that a family from Nagpur was present during the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. In panic, they jumped off a mountain upon hearing gunfire. Simran Rupchandani suffered a leg fracture, while Tilak and Garv Rupchandani were also with her. All three are safe. They have been contacted and are being provided with necessary assistance.

DGP Prashant Kumar has placed the UP police on high alert following the Pahalgam terror attack. Strict monitoring is underway in areas along the international border with Nepal, as well as at bus and railway stations across all districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Five tourists from Maharashtra lost their lives in the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to arrange for the return of tourists stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. Shinde requested a special flight to bring the tourists back to Maharashtra.

In response, Naidu assured that once the list of stranded tourists is provided, a special flight would be arranged to bring them to Mumbai. The request was promptly accepted, and the necessary arrangements will be made to assist the stranded tourists.

“I am deeply saddened and devastated, to learn of the dastardly terror attack on innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region. Resorting to violence is an act of cowardice and needs to be condemned in no uncertain terms. I understand the pain of families who have lost their loved ones and extend my deepest condolences to them. I also pray for the complete and speedy recovery of those injured. The entire country stands united against terror. We share a deep resolve to defeat these divisive and violent forces. We need to work to build the broad social consensus against terror that existed in the past. It is imperative that the safety of our citizens is ensured and peace is restored to the region,” reads Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi statement.

“The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Nothing can justify such a heinous act killing tourists and civilians. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. We continue to monitor the situation and call for perpetrators to be held accountable,” the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs wrote on X.

“On the instruction of the Party President, JKNC joins the collective call for a bandh in strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack. We appeal to the people of J&K to ensure the hartal called by religious and social leaders is a complete success,” the party wrote on X.

“President Trump will be speaking with Prime Minister Modi as soon as he possibly can to express his heartfelt condolences for those lost, and our prayers are with those injured, and our nation’s support for our ally India. These types of horrific events by terrorists are why those of us who work for peace and stability in the world continue our mission,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

The White House also said that the POTUS had been briefed by the National Security Advisor about the situation and continued to receive updates as more facts came to light.

According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be cutting his Saudi Arabia visit short in light of the attack. He is now scheduled to leave for India tonight.

Following the terrorist attack in Kashmir, Prime Minister Modi has decided to shorten his visit to Saudi Arabia and skip the official dinner hosted in his honour. Originally set to return tomorrow night, he will now depart tonight and arrive in India early Wednesday morning, according to the Times of India.

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries of innocent people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of international law.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of India, and to the families of the victims of this heinous attack, as well as its wishes of a speedy recovery for all the injured.

A Raipur-based businessman, Dinesh Mirania, was killed in Tuesday’s terror attack in Pahalgam, officials confirmed. Dinesh Mirania, a resident of Samta Colony area, has succumbed to his injuries, they said. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai condemned the brutal act, calling terrorism the greatest threat to humanity and extending heartfelt condolences to Mirania’s family over the tragic, inhuman incident.

US President Donald Trump posts, “Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. We want to give them a message that they should stop this cowardly act… The people of Kashmir will not tolerate all this. Now, the people dream of a peaceful and progressive Kashmir.”

President of Russia Vladimir Putin extended condolences to President of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

He said, ” Esteemed Mrs President, Esteemed Mr Prime Minister, Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. A Shivamogga resident, Manjunath, was killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack today, says BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.

Shivamogga Lok Sabha MP BY Raghavendra, who visited the residence of the deceased, says, “From Shivamogga, Mr Manjunath was shot dead in the attack. I have spoken to his wife, Pallavi. Three people from my constituency, including Manjunath, his wife, and his child, had gone there. They have gone to Kashmir through a travel agent. I have spoken to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, who is in touch with the Union government to bring back the body to Karnataka as soon as possible.”

J&K Vishva Hindu Parishad president, Rajesh Gupta says, “Currently, the amount of loss and number of deceased are unclear. This incident is condemnable. The people of the Jammu region are furious with this incident. Tomorrow there will be a ‘bandh’ in the Jammu region. We appeal to the government not to spare the terrorists. There should not be any leniency while dealing with them.”
