Parliament Monsoon Session 2023 Highlights: Day 2 of the debate on the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government raised the heat in the lower house after Day 1 of the debate saw the Congress and Union Ministers locking horns over the situation in Manipur which has been witnessing ethnic clashes since May.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday led the Opposition’s charge in Lok Sabha during the debate on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha. In a no-holds-barred attack against the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul sought to equate the Prime Minister with ‘Ravana’ and said that “Bharat Mata had been murdered in Manipur”.

Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani countered Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Manipur in Lok Sabha. Irani said this was the first time someone spoke about the “murder of Bharat Mata” in Parliament and that she condemned Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour in the House.

The no-trust debate is expected to continue till Thursday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give his reply.
