Kolkata Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights: TMC gets majority in Kolkata Dakshin, Kolkata Uttar; BJP struggles in Bengal

The TMC has witnessed a thumping majority in Kolkata Dakshin and Kolkata Uttar with its respective candidates making a clean sweep. Bandyopadhyay Sudip won from Kolkata Uttar with 454696 votes and Mala Roy won from Kolkata Dakshin with 615274 votes.

In Kolkata Uttar, AITC’s Bandyopadhyay Sudip has maintained his lead today and is currently ahead of BJP‘s Tapas Roy by 83731 votes. Meanwhile, Mala Roy of AITC is leading from Kolkata Dakshin by 186266 votes.

West Bengal Cm Mamata Banerjee has said that she is happy that the BJP did not get single-largest majority, adding that PM Modi has lost his credibility and that he should resign immediately.

AITC’s Pathan Yusuf is leading from Baharampur, while Bengal Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury is trailing by 69102 votes.

The Lok Sabha Election 2024 saw 64.2 crore voters cast their vote. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “India created a world record with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the Lok Sabha elections this year.”

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has congratulated her allies. In an interaction with India Today, she said that she will be interacting with media at 5:30 pm.

TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has reached Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee‘s residence in Kalighat.

The All India Trinamool Congress is leading in Kolkata Uttar with its candidate Bandyopadhyay Sudip having 117598 votes in his bag.

The TMC has said that the results in West Bengal are on expected lines. It hailed the trends and said that they were the reflection of people’s faith in the “pro-people policies” of the Mamata Banerjee government and a decisive mandate against the BJP in the state, PTI reported.

As per the data by ECI, in Kolkata Dakshin, All India Trinamool Congress‘ Mala Roy is leading in Kolkata Dakshin by 13732 votes.

BJP‘s prominent candidate and junior central minister, Nisith Pramanik, is trailing in Cooch Behar after the initial rounds of counting, according to the Election Commission.

As per early trends, neck-and-neck fight in Bengal between Mamata Banerjee-led TMC and BJP in West Bengal.

Candidates for the Kolkata Uttar Lok Sabha constituency include Sudip Bandyopadhyay from AITC, Pradip Bhattacharya from INC, and Tapas Roy from BJP. 

The counting of votes has begun.

All eyes are on the counting day when the winners of all 543 Lok Sabha seats will be announced, revealing who will form the government at the center. Vote counting will commence at 8 am on June 4, with results expected to be announced on the same day. While initial trends may emerge by noon, a more definitive outcome is anticipated later in the afternoon.
