Jadavpur Election Results 2024 Highlights: TMC’s Sayani Ghosh defeats BJP’s Anirban Ganguly by over two lakh votes

TMC candidate and actor Sayani Ghosh won defeated her nearest rival BJP candidate Anirban Ganguly by over 2,58,201 votes. Ghosh polled 717899 votes and Ganguly got 459698 votes. CPI-M candidate Srijan Bhattacharyya finished third with 258712 votes.

TMC candidate Sayani Ghosh is leading from the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal by over two lakh votes. She has bagged 671419 votes and BJP candidate Anirban Ganguly has so far bagged 428790 votes, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) data as of 5.32 PM.

TMC candidate Sayani Ghosh is leading with 1,70,338 votes, while BJP‘s Anirban Ganguly is trailing with 1,06,623 votes. The margin stands at 63,715 votes, as per ECI data available at 11.51 AM.

Actor and TMC candidate Sayani Ghosh is leading from Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal by over 20,000 votes. She has so far bagged 66,717 votes. BJP‘s Anirban Ganguly is trailing from the seat, according to Election Commission of India data.

In the electoral fray, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has put forward actor Sayani Ghosh as its candidate. The Left alliance has nominated Srijan Bhattacharyya, who is also representing the INDIA bloc. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has selected its national executive committee member, Anirban Ganguly, as its candidate.

In the last Lok Sabha polls, TMC’s Mimi Chakraborty emerged victorious in the Jadavpur seat, securing 6,88,472 votes, which accounted for 47.9 percent of the total votes cast. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured the second position with 3,93,233 votes, while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) came in third.

Tollywood actor and TMC candidate Mimi Chakraborty won the Jadavpur seat in 2019. In 2019 the seat was won by TMC leader Sugata Bose and in 2009 Kabir Suman had won from the seat.

The Jadavpur constituency is considered as the most prestigious Lok Sabha seat that has had several heavyweights, including Left veteran and former speaker Somnath Chatterjee and incumbent chief minister Mamata Banerjee representing it. Known as the Left’s bastion for decades, the seat has been won by TMC since 2009.

The Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 42 parliamentary constituencies in West Bengal. It is categorized as a General category parliament seat and encompasses a part of South 24 Parganas district. The Jadavpur Parliament seat comprises the following Assembly segments: Baruipur Purba (SC), Baruipur paschim, Sonarpur Dakshin, Bhangore, Jadavpur, Sonarpur Uttar, Tollygunj.
