Assembly Election Results 2024 Highlights: NC-Congress wins J&K for first time in a decade! BJP scores historic hattrick in Haryana

In his initial remarks after the election results in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed that his party was reviewing the “surprising outcomes in Haryana.” He added that they would be notifying the Election Commission about the complaints received from several assembly constituencies.

The National Conference won 42 of the 56 seats in the recent Jammu and Kashmir elections, becoming the largest party. Meanwhile, the Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP faced a significant defeat in the Kashmir Valley, winning only three seats. When asked if the PDP had approached the National Conference for discussions, party chief Omar Abdullah replied that there had been no communication from either side. He noted that, given the PDP’s disappointing results, they likely needed time for internal discussions. Abdullah emphasized that while future talks could happen, they are not a priority right now. Additionally, he celebrated his victories in both the Budgam and Ganderbal constituencies.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin praised the JKNC-Congress victory in the Jammu and Kashmir elections on Wednesday, calling it a “stupendous victory.” He stated that this win represents the start of a fair and inclusive future that fulfills the aspirations of every Kashmiri. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Stalin shared his thoughts and said, “Congratulations to the JKNC-INC alliance and the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the stupendous victory! This is more than just a win for india and democracy—it’s a mandate to fulfil the aspirations of restoring the dignity and statehood of Jammu and Kashmir that the Union BJP Government unjustly stripped away. This moment marks the beginning of a just and inclusive future that honours the hopes of every Kashmiri”.

Early predictions indicated a possible drop in votes for the BJP, with many exit polls favoring the Congress party’s success. However, the BJP defied these expectations and surpassed forecasts, indicating that its governance and outreach efforts connected well with voters. This election represents the BJP’s best performance in Haryana to date, as Congress secured 37 seats and the INLD won two. So what exactly did BJO do right?

AS BJP is set to form govt in Haryana for the third time, party workers and supporters were seen bursting firecrackers in Ranchi and various other places.

Once PM Modi arrived at the BJP Headquarters in Delhi, he was felicitated by BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh following the party’s victory in the Haryana Assembly elections.

PM Narendra Modi took to platform X and said, “I would like to compliment JKNC for their commendable performance in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.”

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh emphasized that the voters of Jammu and Kashmir have delivered a strong and clear mandate in favor of the alliance between the National Conference and the Indian National Congress. He highlighted that the primary focus of the new government will be to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Ramesh assured that the coalition government would operate with responsibility, accountability, and transparency to serve the people of the region effectively.

Results for all 90 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir are out. JKNC won 42 seats whole BJP won 29.

Omar Abdullah after winning both Budgam and Ganderbal seats arrived at a counting centre as supporters and party workers cheered for him.

Commenting on Haryana Election Results, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the results were unexpected and unacceptable. He also said that there were continuous complaints from candidates from Hisar, Mahendragarh and Panipat who reported how some batteries of machines that were 99% showed them losing and in the machines which were not touched, the batteries were 60-70% showed the candidates winning.

Congress candidate Gokul Setia triumphed over Haryana Lokhit Party’s Gopal Kanda in Sirsa, winning by a margin of 7,234 votes. The BJP had withdrawn its candidate from the race, and INLD leader Abhay Chautala had also pledged support to Kanda. Despite this backing, Kanda was unable to secure a victory against Setia, who was contesting in Sirsa for the first time.

INLD’s Abhay Chautala was defeated in the Ellenabad constituency by Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal, losing by a margin of 15,000 votes.

Five years after the tragic loss of her father and uncle in a terror attack, Shagun Parihar, the sole woman candidate from the BJP in the Jammu and Kashmir elections, emerged victorious in the Kishtwar Assembly seat on Tuesday. Parihar defeated veteran National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo. As one of the 27 BJP candidates who won in the elections, she is also one of three women to secure seats in Jammu and Kashmir. Parihar garnered 29,053 votes, winning by a slim margin of 521 votes and maintaining her lead throughout the counting process. She has pledged to advocate for the security of the region.

The Congress party has made new allegations against the Election Commission of India. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to X to claim that the results from Adampur were not being updated on the official website. He asserted that the Congress candidate had emerged victorious in the Assembly constituency, yet the election officials were withholding the winning certificate.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the BJP and the Union government have effectively countered Pakistan‘s propaganda during the Jammu and Kashmir elections. While speaking to reporters in Solapur, Fadnavis remarked that the BJP and the Union government gave a strong response in J&K elections but said he couldn’t comment on the outcome of the Haryana polls yet.

CPI M MP Santosh Kumar remarked on Haryana and J&K Election result trends and said that the J&K results brings him great joy. He said that it follows the abrogation of Article 370, clearly indicating that the people of Kashmir have rejected the BJP government’s policies. He said that they are calling for the immediate restoration of statehood for J&K, which has been their demand since the abrogation of Article 370.

He also said that regarding Haryana, Congress needs to take some important lessons to heart. Kumar added that Congress must recognize the seriousness of the situation, and certain leaders should adopt a more humble approach. They cannot behave like ‘Rajas’ (kings) or grand leaders and that they need to confront reality.

Results are in for 86 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. ECI is still counting votes for 4 more seats. In Haryana, ECI has declared the results for 54 seats.

According to latest News 18 trends, BJP is on its way to make a hattrick as the party shows to have gathered 49 seats, while Congress is a close step behind with 36 seats. AAP and JJP have failed to open their accounts in the state but INLD and others seem to have gathered 2 and 3 seats respectively.
