Delhi Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result Highlights
The BJP is contesting all seven seats in the National Capital. Meanwhile, under their seat-sharing agreement, the Congress is contesting three seats and the AAP is contesting four seats. The Congress is running in Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, and North West Delhi, while the AAP is contesting in New Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi, and East Delhi.
During their campaign in Delhi, the BJP repeatedly highlighted corruption allegations against the AAP, particularly focusing on the scrapped excise policy and ten other alleged scams. The BJP also emphasized welfare schemes like Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, the regularization of unauthorized colonies, and the “Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makan” rehabilitation program. They showcased the Centre’s Delhi-specific projects such as doubling the Delhi Metro network, introducing e-buses under the FAME scheme, developing national highways, and launching NAMO Bharat trains. Additionally, the BJP accused the Kejriwal government of obstructing the implementation of key Central schemes like Ayushman Bharat. The party also promoted national projects, asserting they would elevate Delhi’s status as India’s capital, including the G20 summit, National War and Police memorials, the Museum of Prime Ministers, the new Parliament building, and the Central Vista project. Moreover, they pledged to clean and save the Yamuna River, reduce its pollution, and improve drainage and sewage treatment in the city.
After 11 years in the political wilderness, the Congress is hopeful for a comeback in Delhi‘s Lok Sabha election, leveraging its national ‘Nyay guarantees’ and local issues, while sharing a common voter base with its ally, AAP. In the three constituencies contested under a seat-sharing arrangement with AAP — Chandni Chowk, Northeast, and Northwest Delhi — the party reports a “rare enthusiasm” among supporters.
The Congress promises to establish special vending zones and implement the 2014 ‘Street Vendors Act’ for street vendors. They draw attention to the plight of laborers and the urban poor in JJ clusters and unauthorized colonies, using these issues as a microcosm of national problems. Each candidate presents a “vision document” addressing specific local issues. For instance, in Northeast Delhi, Kanhaiya Kumar pledges a hotline number, a dedicated app for constituents, new Kendriya Vidyalayas, traffic solutions, and infrastructure upgrades for each assembly segment. To appeal to the middle class, the party vows to tackle pollution, improve the condition of the Yamuna river, enhance city roads, resolve parking issues, maintain and build parks and community centers, and upgrade overall infrastructure across Delhi.
AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal counters BJP‘s ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ with ‘Kejriwal ki Guarantee,’ offering 10 pledges, including free electricity up to 200 units if the INDIA bloc is elected.

A senior police officer stated that local police have been instructed to monitor sensitive areas closely. “District DCPs and SHOs have been directed to stay vigilant near the counting centers and within their respective areas,” the officer said.
