Delhi HC orders closure of coaching centres operating without fire NOC
Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the city authorities to close down all coaching centres operating without a no-objection certificate from the fire services department. A bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma observed that “fire safety is a must” and all coaching centres are under an obligation to comply with their statutory requirements under the Delhi Master Plan, 2021, and other applicable regulations. A well-known veteran journalist-author-columnist Shirish Kanekar passed away due to heart attack at the age of 80 in Hinduja hospital, Mumbai. He had been not keeping well lately and facing problems with breathing, later in the morning he was admitted to a hospital according to his close friend and journalist Arun Puranik. He had made exceptional contributions in publications like Loksatta, Indian Express, Samana, and Free Press Journal.
List of Scheduled Tribes in Chhattisgarh adds new communities
A bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that adds communities like Dhanuhar, Dhanuwar, Kisan, Saunra, Saonra and Binjhia in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Chhattisgarh. The Lok Sabha had cleared the legislation in December 2022.

Aviation watchdog DGCA has taken off SpiceJet from its enhanced surveillance regime, a senior official said on Tuesday. The airline, which has been facing multiple headwinds, was placed under enhanced surveillance recently. The senior DGCA official said that in view of the observations made in the past concerning inadequate maintenance and in view of the incidents during the monsoon season last year, SpiceJet was placed under enhanced surveillance. Cloud burst in Kullu
A cloudburst in Gadsa valley of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on Tuesday damaged some houses and agricultural land in the area besides snapping power supply, officials said. Two bridges and some cattle are feared to have been washed away and the Bhuntar-Gadsa road has been damaged at several points. Revenue officials have reached the spot to assess the situation, they said. (PTI)

Pak intruder killed as BSF foils narcotic smuggling along international border in J&K’s Samba
The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major narcotic smuggling bid along the International Border (IB) as it shot dead a Pakistani intruder in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, a BSF spokesperson said on Tuesday. Four kilograms of narcotic substance was recovered from the possession of the slain intruder, the spokesperson said. “In the intervening night of July 24 and 25, the vigilant BSF troops neutralised a Pakistani smuggler who was trying to smuggle narcotics through the Ramgarh border area,” the spokesman said in Jammu.
