The Amazon Prime Day sale was started in 2015 to commemorate Amazon’s 20th birthday. The first sale was live for 24 hours and was available in nine countries. According to the company website, the first day of sale was documented to be the single largest sales day in the company’s history. Reportedly, Prime members purchased more than 375 million items worldwide and saved more than $2.5 billion on deals.
