Women are making significant strides in India’s used car market as a report by Spinny highlights a steep rise in female buyers. According to the company, the number of women car buyers accounted for 26% in 2024, which saw a sharp increase to 46% in March 2025. This is a remarkable transformation considering that in 2023, there were only 16% women buyers.
Niraj Singh, CEO and Founder of Spinny, said, “We believe it’s a woman’s world, and we are celebrating this with a special discount for women buyers. Over the years, women have made up an average of over 32% of our car buyers, and we remain committed to increasing this number.”
What women want?
According to the Spinny report, hatchbacks are the most popular with women buyers in the pre-owned market. Keeping convenience and ease of driving, 60% of buyers opt for an automatic hatchback. The cars that are in demand are the Renault Kwid, Hyundai Grand i10, and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Metro cities pave the way forward for women car buyers, with Delhi-NCR at 48%, Mumbai at 46%, Bengaluru at 41%, and Pune at 39%. Shattering all myths, a rise in demand of 20% is also witnessed in non-metro cities like Lucknow and Jaipur. The average age of female buyers falls within the 30-40-year range, reflecting a trend of young professionals investing in personal vehicles.

The growing number of women purchasing cars signals a significant societal shift. More women are asserting their financial independence and prioritizing personal mobility, breaking away from traditional roles that once limited their influence in automobile buying decisions.
