Addressing the media at a recent press conference, Goyal added that the exhibition will, henceforth, become an annual event.

He further added that all such mobility expos including the biennial Auto and Components Expo will be merged into Bharat Mobility Expo. 28 auto OEMs and over 600 auto component manufacturers participated in the recently concluded event. Further, around 1.28 lakh registered visitors participated in the three-day mega event. The event was organised by the Ministry of Commerce, in partnership with several other ministries and industry bodies such as SIAM, ACMA, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles, and NASSCOM.

Terming the expo as a ‘phenomenal success’, Goyal expressed his enthusiasm by saying.  “This marks a significant development within the mobility sector, representing a crucial threshold for success. Every year, the Bharat Mobility Global Expo is going to be an institution of ideas and innovations that would further help demonstrate India’s growth story to the people of our nation.”

The first edition of Bharat showcased India’s capabilities across the entire mobility and automotive value chains under one roof. Companies, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, among others, showed a variety of vehicles of different fuel technologies, ranging from CNG, hybrids to electric as they asserted the need for eco-friendly sustainable mobility for the future.

For instance, passenger vehicle market leader Maruti Suzuki displayed its concept eVX, flex-fuel WagonR, strong hybrid Grand Vitara and Jimny, along with SkyDrive e-flying car. “We are looking at all technology options for sustainable mobility for the future,” said Rahul Bharti, Executive Director, MSIL.

He further added that the company will launch its first full electric eVX SUV in India this year, which will also be exported to Japan and Europe, thus reversing the trend of importing EVs and helping in the government’s Make in India initiative.
