The Hyundai Xcent is a compact sedan based on the Grand i10 which measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,660 in width, 1,520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,425 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the Xcent is 43 litres for all variants and the boot space is 407 litres. All variants of the Hyundai Xcent are offered with body coloured bumpers and antenna while the higher trims also have body coloured door handles and body coloured ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) with turn indicators. The top end variant gets a 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheel while SX version comes with a 14 inch silver alloy wheel.
The Hyundai Xcent has an elegant and functional interior similar to its hatchback sibling, the Grand i10. Convenience and features include an engine start/stop button with keyless entry, rear AC vents, a 2 DIN audio system with steering mounted controls for volume and phone. All variants of the Hyundai Xcent are offered with a dual tone colour scheme, blue interior illumination, front and rear cabin lamps, rear armrest with cupholders and adjustable rear seat headrests.
Powering the Hyundai Xcent are two engine options similar to the Grand i10, a 1.2 litre Kappa petrol unit and a 1.2 litre CRDi diesel. The petrol generates 82 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The diesel engine generates 74 hp and 190Nm of torque which kicks in from 1,750 rpm. Both engines have been tuned for the best balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
The Hyundai Xcent is available in two transmission options, a manual and an automatic. The automatic is available only for the petrol powered unit in the Kappa S variant. The 5 speed manual gearbox offers smooth gear changes with both engines.
In terms of safety, the Hyundai Xcent comes with a driver airbag and ABS as standard across all its variants. The higher versions are also offered with co driver’s airbag.
The ARAI Certified mileage of the Hyundai Xcent petrol manual is 19.1 kmpl, 16.1 kmpl for the petrol automatic and 24.4 kmpl for the diesel variants. All mileage figures are acceptable by segment standards.
