The MotoGP circus has touched down in South America as the second round commences in Argentina. The Termas de Rio Hondo circuit is hosting MotoGP after a year. This grand prix is going to be an emotional return for the championship leader Marc Marquez, who will race here after six years. Argentina GP has been a happy hunting ground for the Spaniard as he won here in 2014, 2016 and 2019. The six-time MotoGP champion will look to rewrite the history books by aiming to bag his 90th GP win, tying him with racing icon Angel Nieto.
Marquez was spotted at the track wearing Argentina’s national football jersey. When asked if he was wearing Messi’s number, the Ducati man was quick to explain, “I don’t dare. I got the jersey as a present from Ducati Argentina and I said I would arrive at the circuit wearing the jersey. But it has (to have) Marquez on the back… Messi is a big deal.”
It was a dream start for Ducati and Marquez as it was a pretty straightforward win for the Spaniard. The competition will definitely be hoping it’s a new team bounce and they will be able to compete with the dynamic duo and beat them. Meanwhile, for fans who prefer TV broadcasts, Eurosport remains the destination. Eurosport India signed a three-year deal last year to exclusively televise MotoGP in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives—a partnership that will continue until 2026.
