Tesla’s India head, Prashanth Menon, has resigned, as per a Bloomberg report. This comes at a time when Tesla is planning on entering the country, with its dealerships finalised in Delhi and Mumbai. People with the know-how said that Menon is leaving for personal reasons, however, Tesla is yet to make the official announcement.

Menon has been with Tesla for nine years, and has served as chairman of board of Tesla India for over four years. He set up the Indian office in Pune in 2021. Menon took over the reigns at Tesla India after Venkatrangam Sreeram. Before heading Tesla India, Menon served as the director advisory of cost, process, and regulatory measures at Tesla in the US. The company has not names a successor to Menon yet and the Indian operations will be overlooked by the company’s China-based teams as per reports.

Tesla has also concluded its local hiring process and is set to commence its operations depending on global constraints. That said, Tesla’s Starlink was granted approval to help it secure a license to operate in India. Tesla, after numerous false starts, is finally set to enter India and ahead of its arrival, has also initiated refunds to several customers who booked Tesla models earlier.
