Mahindra has just dropped its latest electric bombshell — the all-new XEV 9e. This borne electric SUV is based on a brand-new skateboard platform which is called Inglo.
Mahindra has revealed that the starting price is Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom, but the full pricing and variant details won’t drop until January 2025. The company further announced that the deliveries will kick off around the end of February or March.
Mahindra XEV 9e: Bigger than XUV 700

To give a clear understanding of how big the XEV 9e is, we compare its dimensions with the current Mahindra flagship model, the XUV 700. The XEV 9e is based on a 2,775 mm wheelbase with an overall length of 4,789 mm, a width of 1,907 mm and a height of 1,694 mm. What is interesting to note is the new EV SUV has short overhangs. It has an impressive ground clearance of 207 mm and a battery ground clearance of 222 mm. The major difference between the XEV 9e and the XUV 700 is the seating layout. The EV is a five-seater, while the ICE SUV has three rows with an option of being 6-or-7 seater. The XEV 9e sits on 19-inch alloys with an option to upsize to 20-inch, while the XUV 700’s top model is equipped with 18-inch rims.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Battery, Power, Range

The XEV 9e will be available with two battery pack options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh, which have a lifetime warranty offered to initial customers. The 59 kWh motor produces around 228 bhp and the 79 kWh has an output of 281 bhp. Both have 380 Nm of torque. According to Mahindra, the XEV 9e sprints from 0 – 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds. The 79 kWh returns a driving range of 656 km in MIDC Phase 1+2 (ARAI) while WLTP claims 533 km. It has a fast charge capability to juice up the 79 kWh battery from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 20 minutes with a 175 kW DC charger.
Mahindra XEV 9e: Features

The XEV 9e is a rolling tech hub. It has a 43-inch coast-to-coast digital screen that stretches across the entire dashboard—three 12.3-inch displays stitched together in one epic panel. Forget about those “luxury” SUVs above its class; this is the only one in its segment to flaunt this futuristic setup.
The XEV 9e is the first Indian SUV to feature Dolby Atmos along with a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon music system. It has the powerhouse Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, paired with a sixth-gen Adreno GPU, 24GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
It offers over 60 apps for everything from music and OTT movies to shopping, podcasts, over-the-air (OTA) updates and more.
Mahindra XEV 9e: Auto Park

Say goodbye to parking woes with Mahindra’s Auto Park feature. No more awkward shuffling in tight spaces while parallel parking. With the Auto Park function activated, the XEV 9e uses 12 ultrasonic sensors to find the ideal parking spot and then parks itself, whether it’s a 90-degree, angular, or parallel space.
You can even step outside the car and let it park itself remotely. Just grab the key fob, press the lock button twice, hit the setting button, and use the forward/backward controls to guide the SUV into the parking spot—without even sitting inside.
Mahindra XEV 9e: Safety

Like any vehicle in the lineup, Mahindra is looking to achieve a 5-star safety rating and hence, the XEV 9e is packed with a plethora of features. As Mahindra has only revealed the safety features of the entry-level Pack One variant, here is the list. It has 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera including reverse parking, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a tyre pressure monitor and a Level 2 ADAS suite with five radars and one camera.
