It was coming for some time now, but TVS Motor has finally managed to snatch the number one position in the two-wheeler electric space in April. Last month witnessed an unprecedented sales of 91,791 units, which is a 40% year-on-year growth. The April 2025 figures broke the previous record of 66,878 units in April 2023. All these sales numbers are based on the Vahan database.
TVS Motor
TVS Motor edged past Ola Electric by a mere 27 units to take the crown in April 2025. The company registered 19,736 units with a boost of 1,534 units on April 30 for Akshaya Tritiya. With a market share of around 22%, TVS created a record for the highest number of sales in a day by any top two-wheeler EV company.Â
Ola Electric
This is the case of how the mighty has fallen as Ola Electric ruled to roost in April 2024 with a market share of 52%, which has now fallen down to 21%. Riddled with controversies and plagued with nightmarish dealership experience, customers have shunned away from Ola Electric, which scored a hat-trick for not securing the number one position for the third month in a row. In the previous two months, Bajaj Auto kept the Bengaluru-based company at bay. The April 2025 figures also revealed a dip of 42% YoY.Â
Bajaj Auto
The final podium goes to Bajaj Auto, which slipped to the third spot in April. It sold 19,001 units of Chetaks and registered a 151% YoY growth. According to the Vahan, Bajaj Auto sold 1,258 electric scooters on the last day of April. With the recent launch of the most affordable Chetak 3503 in its lineup, potential buyers may have taken their hands off the throttle and may have waited for the new scooter. The Chetak 3503 is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh, ex-showroom, with a claimed range of 155 km.
