The Tata Nexon kickstarted the five-star safety rating trend in India, and soon, many other carmakers followed. EVs soon followed as well, and the latest to earn a full safety score in the Bharat NCAP crash test rating is the Tata Nexon EV, carrying forward the Nexon’s legacy of being a safe vehicle. The Nexon EV scored five stars for adult safety rating as well as for child protection.
Tata Nexon EV Bharat NCAP safety rating explained
The model tested was the Nexon EV LR, which has a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Tata Nexon 45 scored 29.86 points out of 32 points for adult safety while the scoring 44.95 points out of 49 points for child safety. The Nexon EV offered good protection to the head of the driver and passenger while offering adequate protection for the driver’s chest and shin area. For the passenger, the Nexon EV offered good protection to the chest and shin area.
In terms of protection for children, the Nexon EV scored 23.95 points out of 24 in dynamic scoring, while earning 12 points out of 12 in terms of Child Restraint System (CRS) score, and earned another 9 out of 13 in Vehicle assessment score.
The Tata Nexon that was tested by Bharat NCAP comes equipped with ESC (Electronic Stability Control), Side Head Protection System (curtain airbags), Pedestrian Protection System and Seat Belt Reminders (SBR) as a standard fitment across all the variants.
