Bajaj Auto is set to mark another milestone for the iconic Chetak scooter with the launch of an updated electric scooter range. While reports suggest that the company may introduce a more affordable trim, Bajaj could also surprise the market with a fully revamped lineup. Here’s what we know so far.
Bajaj Chetak update: What’s new?
The biggest upgrade will be the battery placed underneath the floorboard and freeing space for under-seat storage. The battery will also receive new cells to increase both performance and range.Â
Bajaj is developing a new entry-level trim of the Chetak, which, according to spy images, features basic components and steel rim wheels. This variant will come with a smaller battery, offering a reduced range of around 100 km. It will also feature a combination of drum brakes and forgo the glove box. The smart keyless system will be replaced by a conventional key slot. To keep the cost down, the new model is expected to have an LCD instrument console instead of the premium TFT digital screen.
Bajaj Chetak: Current lineup
The Chetak electric scooter is available in broadly four variants — Blue 2903, Blue 3201, Blue 3202 and 3201 E. The new Chetak update is expected to be priced slightly above the current portfolio as it starts from Rs 96,000 to Rs 1.27 lakh, ex-showroom.
