Volkswagen has officially announced that the Tiguan R-Line will launch in India on April 14. This flagship SUV, set to debut as a completely built unit (CBU), is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh. Volkswagen had previously announced the launching of the R-Line SUV and the iconic Golf GTI.Â
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Powertrain Specs
The Tiguan R-Line is available in three engine trims in the global market — two petrol, one diesel and a plug-in hybrid. The 2-litre turbo petrol is available in two power outputs — 201 bhp with 320 Nm and the top model produces 261 bhp and 400 Nm. Both the models are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The latter model is the one set to be available in India.
As Volkswagen does not offer a diesel option in India, the international model is available with 1,968cc with 190 bhp and 400 Nm along with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. There is also a plug-in hybrid version with a 1,498cc petrol engine with 174 bhp with 250 Nm. It also has an 85 kW motor with a performance output of 268 bhp and 400 Nm with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Features
As the sportiest variant in the Tiguan lineup, the R-Line features an all-black cabin accented with bold red inserts on the dashboard, door panels, and centre console. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment system and a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The SUV also offers a range of features, including a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, and heated and ventilated front seats for enhanced comfort.
On the safety front, it is equipped with six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an electronic parking brake. Additionally, it may offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation, and adaptive cruise control, ensuring a safer and more convenient drive.
