The 2024 annual conference of Volkswagen India was a busy event as along with the much-awaited ID.4 electric SUV, the German carmaker unveiled new iterations of Taigun and Virtus.
Since Volkswagen is not presently focussed on bringing any all-new India-specific model, the German brand is relying on expanding on the GT range of both its existing models– Virtus and Taigun. In this regard, VW unveiled the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport which is still in a concept stage.
Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport: What’s new?
Unlike the previous GT Plus trim which was laden with chrome elements, the GT Plus Spot is all-blacked out thus justifying its name by adding more sportiness to the overall styling. For instance, the chrome seen on the front grille and bumper in the GT Plus Chrome trim is replaced by gloss black elements in the Virtus GT Plus Sport. The sedan rolls on 17-inch all-black spoke alloy wheels.

Similarly, the rear bumper and diffuser have been provided a gloss black treatment. The ‘Virtus’ lettering is also blacked out. Another sporty addition is a blacked-out spoiler extending from the boot lid. Moreover, the entire roof has been blackened out. Further, the taillamps and reflector lights have been darkened to give them a smoky effect. While prices are yet to be announced, we expect prices of the Virtus GT Plus Sport to be at par with the equivalent Chrome trim.
Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport: Interiors & Powertrain
Other styling details remain the same as the rest of the GT range. Exterior highlights such as red brake callipers on front wheels, red GT branding on front fenders, grille, and boot lid have been carried over from other VW GT models. The all-black cabin is spruced with red accents on the dashboard, steering wheel, piping, and seat upholstery. Moreover, metallic pedals add a premium touch to the cabin.

Exact details regarding its specs and features will be revealed at the time of its launch. In all likelihood, Virtus GT Plus Sport will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, TSI turbo-petrol engine delivering 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be carried out either by a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
