Volkswagen India has taken the covers of the Taigun’s new range — the GT Sport Plus and the GT Line. It is also the first time the 1-litre turbo petrol powertrain will be available in the GT Line. The German automobile manufacturer has only showcased the new models and will soon launch them. Bookings are now open for the new GT Sport range. Here’s all you need to know about the design updates of the entire GT Line portfolio including Chrome, Sport and Edge.
Volkswagen Taigun GT Line: New Variants
Volkswagen’s new Taigun GT Sport Plus sports a blacked-out LED headlight cluster and casing. It also receives a dark finish on the front grille, outside rearview mirrors, roof rails, dark chrome door handles and bumpers with glossy black borders. The all-black 17-inch alloy wheels get contrasting red front brake callipers and red coloured GT badges on the front, side fenders and the boot lid.Â
The cabin is all-black in colour with red inserts on the dashboard and door panels. Both the black leatherette upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel sport red switching.Â

As the name suggests, the Taigun GT Chrome comes garnished with chrome touches, which is quite a popular choice among buyers. Gone are the blacked-out headlamps and in place are the clear lens. The front fascia, the bumper, the foglamps and the 17-inch alloy wheels get chrome inserts. The cabin and the upholstery are dual-tone in colour.
The Taigun Edge, on the other hand, retains all the features the Sport and the Chrome variants offer but offers dark colour options like Deep Black Pearl, Carbon and Steel Grey Matte. It is available in either silver or black chrome finish. The cabin gets red ambient light.
Volkswagen Taigun GT Line: Engines
Mechanically, the Taigun remains the same and retains both the 1-litre and 1.5-litre TSI (turbo petrol) engines with its multiple transmission options. The 1-litre engine has finally joined the GT Line family and it churns out 114bhp and 178Nm. It is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission. The more powerful 1.5-litre TSI produces 148bhp and 250Nm and is available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
