Volkswagen dropped a big bomb a couple of weeks ago when it announced that the Tiguan R Line and the Golf GT will be coming to India. Both performance models are slated to launch in the first quarter of FY2024-25, with the Tiguan R Line launching first on April 14. Ahead of its launch, Volkswagen has shared some key details of the performance-sec Tiguan. Let us check out some of the key highlights from the upcoming VW Tiguan R available with us.
Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Design
The overall design of the Tiguan R Line is pretty much similar to the standard Tiguan. The former gets cosmetic updates over the former such as sportier bumpers, a larger front grille, sleeker headlamps and DRLs, larger splitters on the front bumper, larger 19-inch alloy wheels with a different design, and connected LED taillamps. Further, the R badges give it a distinct touch.

The new Tiguan R-Line will be available in six exterior colour options to choose from: Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, and Oyster Silver Metallic.
Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Interiors
The cabin of the Tiguan R-Line is evidently a lot different as compared to the standard Tiguan. Notable updates include redesigned AC vents and a larger, freestanding touchscreen system. The dashboard now features a more minimalistic layout, setting it apart from its predecessor. However, the steering wheel and foot pedals remain unchanged.
Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Features
The Tiguan R-Line comes packed with advanced features, including a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, 30-color ambient lighting, dual wireless phone chargers, three-zone automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, sport seats with a massage function, and parking assist. On the safety front, it offers nine airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an electronic parking brake, hill hold assist, and Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Powertrain
Powering Tiguan R Line will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox. The India-spec Tiguan R Line will churn out 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Power will be sent to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s 4Motion AWD system.
Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Expected Price
Volkswagen will bring the Tiguan R Line as a fully-imported model under the CBU route. Hence, it is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Pre-launch bookings for the Tiguan R Line are currently underway at all Volkswagen dealerships and the official company website.
