Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has officially confirmed that it has temporarily halted accepting bookings for the CNG version of Rumion due to long impending backlogs. The rebadged Maruti Ertiga was unveiled by Toyota last month, while prices were officially announced earlier this month.

Commenting on the same, “We launched the All-New Toyota Rumion in August this year and have received overwhelming response from our customers who have been waiting for a Toyota vehicle in the B-MPV segment. We are heartened to see the increasing inflow of enquiries and healthy bookings for the All New Toyota Rumion.”
He added by saying The demand has surpassed our expectations, resulting in a long delivery time across variants, especially for the E-CNG option. This has necessitated us to temporarily halt bookings of the E-CNG option ONLY to avoid customer inconvenience due to longer waiting periods.” However, Toyota continues to accept bookings for the petrol-powered (NeoDrive) variants of the MPV.

Toyota Rumion details
Available in three broad trim levels– S, G and V, Rumion is the third MPV in the Japanese carmaker’s lineup after Innova Crysta, and Innova Hycross. It shares the specs, design and features with the Maruti Ertiga on which it is based. However, the CNG version of Rumion is only available with the base S trim.
Therefore, it is equipped with features such as halogen projector headlights. LED taillights, wheel covers, manual AC, a 4-speaker music system, and keyless entry. Safety package includes features such as dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts (second row only), electronic stability programme (ESP), and hill-hold assist.
Powering the Rumion CNG is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that kicks out 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. In its petrol guise, this motor pushes out 102 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque while available with an additional 6-speed automatic gearbox.
