Toyota Innova Hycross: What is AVAS?
AVAS is a feature which is commonly found in high-end electric vehicles (EV). It basically produces fake sounds using external speakers in order to alert surrounding pedestrians and other road users of the vehicle’s proximity to when driving at low speeds in electric mode. This feature can also come in handy for strong hybrid vehicles that can run in fully electric mode for a limited distance.
When in EV mode, the Innova Hycross is completely silent with no noise from the engine, making it imperceptible for pedestrians or vehicles in close proximity to detect. The feature is aimed at warning users around the vehicle, thus reducing the risk of an accident. The AVAS feature is now available in VX, VX (O), ZX, and ZX (O) variants of the Innova Hycross.

In addition to AVAS, the Toyota Innova Hycross comes equipped with various safety features, including a 360-degree camera, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, and vehicle stability control. It also offers a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, such as adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor, automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keep assist, among others.
