March car sales have seen decent growth with multiple carmakers compared to March 2024, however, two of India’s leading carmakers in March 2025 have seen a marginal decline in sales. That said, Mahindra, after being the second-best car seller in February, has lost its position to competition in March 2025. Here are the top five best-selling carmakers in March 2025.
Best-selling car brands in March 2025
Maruti Suzuki leads the charge and that’s an unshakable fact in India. With multiple offerings in every segment, including CNG and hybrids, Maruti Suzuki is the top brand in India. Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,50,743 units last month, compared to selling 1,52,718 units in March 2024, registering a YOY growth of negative 1.3 percent.
Following Maruti Suzuki is Hyundai, reclaiming its second spot after briefly losing it to Mahindra in February. The South Korean carmaker registered sales of 51, 820 units in March 2025, as compared to 53,001 units sold in March 2024. This is a decline in sales of 2.2 percent, however, Hyundai has seen the Creta lead the segment in terms of sales.
Up next, Tata Motors. After seeing a series of decline in sales, Tata has posted positive YoY sales in March 2025. The carmaker sold 51,616 units last month, posting a 3 percent YoY growth compared to March 2024, when the carmaker sold 50,105 units. Next comes Mahindra, having sold 48,048 SUVs, posting a growth of 18.3 percent. For Mahindra, the Scorpio leads sales, while the XUV700 sees strong demand, along with its new electric SUVs.
Rounding up the list of top five best-selling carmakers in March 2025 is Toyota, posting a strong YoY growth of 13 percent. For Toyota, the Innova continues to draw customers while products such as the Hyryder and other Maruti Suzuki-partnered vehicles continue to drive sales.
