Nissan has recently launched the 2024 Magnite facelift with an introductory price starting at Rs 5.99 lakh. The Magnite stands as one of the market’s most affordable compact SUVs and offers the best value for a CVT automatic in its segment, with prices ranging from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom. Let’s explore five other alternatives to the Magnite.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Brezza is the most successful compact SUV and is available with a single engine option, the 1462 cc naturally aspirated engine with an output of 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic torque converter. The Brezza also gets a CNG option that produces 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Price: Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 13.98 lakh, ex-showroom.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Fronx comes under the Maruti’s Nexa brand and is more of a coupe SUV. The Fronx gets two engine options — the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and the 1-litre turbo. The NA churns out 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of torque and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The 98.6 bhp turbo petrol engine has a torque output of 147.6 Nm and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter. The Fronx also has a CNG trim that produces 76.4 bhp and 113 Nm and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Price: Rs 8.38 lakh to Rs 11.96 lakh, ex-showroom.

Tata Nexon

The Nexon is the only vehicle in the Indian market that is available in all drivetrains — petrol, diesel, EV and CNG. It is also the only CNG vehicle in the country to be powered by a turbo petrol. The 118 bhp 1.2-litre has 170 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel gets the same multiple gearbox options. The Nexon CNG churns out 99 bhp and 170 Nm with a 6-speed MT.

Price: Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.50 lakh, ex-showroom.

Kia Sonet

The Sonet offers three engine trims — 1-litre turbo petrol, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The NA is mated to a 5-speed MT, the turbo gets a 6-speed clutchless and 7-speed DCT and the diesel gets clutches, 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. The 1.2-litre petrol has an output of 82 bhp and 115 Nm, 118 bhp for turbo with 172 Nm and the 114 bhp 1.5-litre diesel with 250 Nm.
Price: Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.50 lakh, ex-showroom.

Hyundai Venue

Like its distant cousin, the Kia Sonet, the Venue comes with three engine options the 1.2-litre NA, 1-litre turbo and the 1.5-litre diesel. All the engines have identical output like the Sonet but we take a look at the Venue’s transmission options. The NA is mated to a 5-speed MT, the turbo with a 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT automatic and only 6-speed MT for diesel.
