The May dip in Creta’s numbers proved to be just a blip as the segment leader Hyundai SUV bounced back to take the number one position in June 2025. The SUV elbowed out Maruti Suzuki’s best-seller and the country’s most successful sedan, the Dzire. The Maruti sedan had to settle for second place, as it was 302 units shy of the Creta’s 15,786 units sold last month. The third spot went to the highest-selling compact SUV, the Brezza. Here’s a quick look at how the top five best-selling vehicles fared in June.
Hyundai Creta
The Creta slipped to number four in May 2025 with 14,860 units, but it continued to be the best-selling SUV in its class. In June, Hyundai was in take-no-prisoners mode and snatched the number one place from the Dzire. Even though the difference was minute, it was important for the South Korean company, as it had been in a freefall in the last couple of months after losing its number two position to Mahindra and Mahindra. In a year-on-year comparison, the Creta saw a mild dip of 3% as it sold 16,293 units in June 2024.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Dzire continues to defy all odds as it continues to be one of the top two vehicles in the market. In a world full of compact SUVs that directly compete against the sedan, the Dzire continues to smash its competition, selling 15,484 units and registering a massive 15% growth year-on-year. In June 2024, it sold 13,421 units.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Speaking of compact SUVs, Maruti Suzuki continues to rule the roost with the Brezza, which sold 14,507 units. This is another big boost for India’s number one car manufacturer as the Brezza registers a 10% bump year-on-year. In June 2024, it sold 13,172 units. The Brezza was also the third best-selling vehicle in May and did better, as it sold 15,556 units.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The Ertiga is the only MPV to enter the top five list and sold 14,151 units, but it saw an 11% dip year-on-year. In June 2024, it sold 15,902 units. May was a very good month for the Maruti Suzuki MPV, as it clocked 16,140 units.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Swift is back in the top five fold at the expense of the Mahindra Scorpio. The hatchback sold 13,275 units in June, which was a 19% drop year-on-year. The Swift was the sixth best-selling vehicle in May and registered 14,135 units.
