However, if you’re searching for an automatic car in this budget and prefer to avoid AMT technology, there are still several alternatives. Buyers can choose from a lineup that includes premium hatchbacks, a sedan, and even a compact SUV—all available with true automatic transmissions like torque converters, CVTs, or dual-clutch gearboxes, and priced in a similar range.

Before we get into the details of the Altroz automatic, this is the previous generation version, as the new one has not been launched. The Altroz is the only vehicle in the list that is available with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The gearbox is mated to a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with an output of 87 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm at 3,250 rpm. 

Hyundai 1.2 Kappa Petrol IVT Magna: Rs 8.89 lakh

Hyundai has updated the i20 range by making it more value for money. The Magna trim is now available with a CVT gearbox or, as Hyundai likes to call it IVT. The i20 Magna gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Kappa engine with an output of 87 bhp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 114.7 Nm at 4,200 rpm. 

Honda Amaze S CVT: Rs 9.35 lakh

The Amaze is the only compact sedan that is available with a CVT. The recently launched 2025 version is powered by the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre engine that makes 88.5 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4,800 rpm.

Citroen C3 Turbo Shine AT: Rs 9.99 lakh

Many may have forgotten the C3, but it’s still very much in the market and is a value-for-money vehicle. The car is powered by 1199cc turbo petrol engine with an output of 108 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 205 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. 

Mahindra 3X0 MX2 Pro 1.2 Petrol AT — Rs 10.54 lakh

We confess we have sneaked in the Mahindra 3X0 MX2 petrol AT, which is a shade above the Rs 10 lakh budget, only just. The compact SUV gets a 1.2-litre turbo petrol powertrain that produces 110 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The transmission is a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
