Tesla Showroom highlights: Tesla finally made its debut in India last month, having opened its first dealership in Mumbai, and launched the Model Y in India. Soon, the US EV maker setup its charging network in Mumbai, and now, Tesla is all geared up to inaugurate its second outlet in Delhi.
The new Tesla dealership in Delhi will be opened at Aerocity’s Worldmark 3 complex, catering to customers in the Delhi NCR region. While Tesla currently has two dealerships (after the inauguration of Delhi today), customers across the country can book a Model Y through the carmaker’s official website.
Tesla cars in India
Tesla currently sells one model in India, the Model Y. The electric crossover is priced at Rs 60 lakh onwards, and is available with rear-wheel-drive only, but in two variants, standard and long range. The former offers a range of 500km on a full charge, and the long range version offers a range of 622km on a full charge.
In terms of specifications, the standard version of the Tesla Model Y makes 235bhp, and the long range version makes more power at 335bhp. Acceleration times are also different, as the former accelerates from 0–100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Tesla Model Y long range accelerates from 0–100kmph in 5.6 seconds.
The vehicles can be charged at home with a wall-mounted charger, or with a quick charger, which offers 267 km in 15 minutes. The company has already setup four quick chargers in Mumbai, and four more will follow in Delhi, shortly after the inauguration of the second showroom.
Tesla India competition
In India, Tesla competes with many carmakers. Homegrown auto makers include Tata Motors and Mahindra, with the Harrier EV and Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. Other competition comes in the form of BYD and VinFast.
BYD offers competition in the form of the Sealion 7, which has a range of 567km, while VinFast is gearing up to launch two models: VF 6 and VF 7. All the competition, including Mahindra and Tata Motors, are priced well below the Tesla Model Y, making the competition intense for the carmaker.
Tesla Delhi showroom live: Fully Self‑Driving (FSD) capabilties
Tesla is also offering its Fully Self-Driving (FSD) capabilties in the India-spec Model Y. However, there’s a catch. This system is only offered as an option at Rs 6 lakh on top of the vehicle’s price.
While FSD isn’t yet fully enabled due to India’s regulatory framework, the vehicle includes Autopilot features like Autopark, Smart Summon, Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control—with future updates planned via OTA software upgrades.
Besdies the showroom, Tesla has also set four Supercharger units at the same premise. Using these fast DC chargers, a Tesla user can add up to 238 km (Standard Range) and 267 km (Long Range) in just 15 minutes. Simlar setup to be established in Saket and Noida soon followed by Horizon Centre, Gurugram.
