At this occasion, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said “After Tigor, we are speeding towards our next market introduction, the Tata Tigor which opens a new category of style and attitude in this segment. Since the Tigor is a compact sedan, it would also benefit from the excise duties relieved on sub-4 metre cars. It will be powered by the 1.2 litre Revotron petrol and the 1.05 litre RevoTorq diesel engine. The 1,199 cc petrol engine generates 84 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque and the 1,047 cc diesel motor produces 69 hp of power and 140 Nm of torque in the Tiago and these figures are expected to be similar to the Tigor.
Both engines in the Tigor would be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, however, like select diesel variants in the Zest, the Tigor may also come with an AMT or Automated Manual Transmission. However, in order to keep costs in check, it may be that an AMT may be avoided for a start.
Once introduced, the Tata Tigor would compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
