Tata Harrier EV vs Mahindra XEV 9e comparison: Price, Performance, Range

It’s a mid-size EV SUV showdown. Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e, both flagship models, go head-to-head with two battery options each.

Tata Motors has launched its flagship electric SUV, the much-awaited Harrier EV. It is the first ‘Make-in-India’ SUV to be powered by dual motors and come with an all-wheel-drive system. The Harrier EV is the sixth EV product in Tata Motors’ lineup starting from Tigor EV, Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV and Curvv EV. The new Harrier EV goes up against the Mahindra XEV 9e. Tata Motors has announced that the Harrier EV’s deliveries will officially start from July 2.

The Harrier EV is available in two battery packs — 65 kWh and 75 kWh. Tata Motors has not revealed the entry-level battery spec yet. The 75 kWh is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. The latter is packed with two motors —  the front generates 155 bhp and the rear makes 235 bhp. According to Tata Motors, the Harrier EV does 0 – 100 km in 6.3 seconds. The 75 kWh battery offers a 250 km range with a 15-minute charge, and the certified range (MIDC P1+P2) of the AWD version offers 622 km and 627 km for RWD trim on a single charge. The RWD variant offers a real-world range of 480 to 505 km. The AWD version comes with Boost, Sport, City and Eco modes while the RWD misses out on Boost.

The XEV 9e XEV 9e gets two battery options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The 59 kWh has an output of 228 bhp, and the top version churns out 281.6 bhp, with both offering 380 Nm of torque. Both the EVs offer multiple driving modes — Range, Everyday, Race, Snow & Custom. Based on range (MIDC P1 + P2), the XEV 9e 59 kWh and 79 kWh models return a range of 542 km and 656 km.

The Tata Harrier EV introduces an advanced e-Valet system, making parking effortless with Auto Parking Assist for both parallel and perpendicular spots. Its innovative Anywhere Parking feature lets the SUV park itself even in unmarked spaces, while Reverse Assist retraces your path in reverse for up to 50 meters. Summon Mode allows remote forward or backward movement, perfect for tight spaces. The Harrier EV debuts a 540-degree surround camera, offering a 360-degree view plus a Transparent mode to see beneath the car, ideal for spotting potholes or curbs. A Blind Spot View monitor further enhances safety with live video feeds of both sides. It also comes with a built-in dashcam.

The XEV 9e is a rolling tech hub. It has a 43-inch coast-to-coast digital screen that stretches across the entire dashboard—three 12.3-inch displays stitched together in one epic panel. SUV to feature Dolby Atmos along with a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon music system. It has the powerhouse Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, paired with a sixth-gen Adreno GPU, 24GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

It offers over 60 apps for everything from music and OTT movies to shopping, podcasts, over-the-air (OTA) updates and more. With the Auto Park function, the SUV can be moved front or back by the flob as a remote to park it. 

Tata Harrier EV vs Mahindra XEV 9e: Price

Tata Motors has not revealed the full price range of the Harrier EV. It has only showcased the starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh, ex-showroom introductory price. The Mahindra XEV 9e is priced from Rs 22.65 lakh to Rs 31.25 lakh, ex-showroom.
