Tata Curvv was one of the most anticipated launches of 2024. Launched in petrol, diesel, and fully-electric derivatives, the coupe SUV has been generally well-received by experts and consumers. In a new video released by Tata Motors on its social media handles, the Curvv can be seen demonstrating its strength and power.
Tata Curvv “pulls” off stunt
Titled Act 1, this is likely to be the first part of a series of videos where Curvv’s special attributes are highlighted. In this video, a prototype of Tata Curvv is seen pulling three dipper trucks each weighing 14 tonnes, i.e., 42 tonnes in total at one go, thus highlighting the coupe SUV’s strong build and performance.
The Curvv pulled off this stunt at the company’s own test track. The Coupe SUV is seen effortlessly pull the trucks without breaking any sweat. This act showcases the structural integrity of their vehicle’s underpinnings. This exemplifies a design with a high Factor of Safety (FOS), exceeding 1. Achieving an FOS of 1 would necessitate the Curvv’s advertised performance after towing its rated capacity, which is unlikely to surpass 2,000 kg.
The prototype seen in the video is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Hyperion petrol engine which kicks out 123 bhp and 225 Nm of peak torque. This motor is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The one in the video gets the latter. There are three drive modes on offer: Eco, City and Sport.
This isn’t the first time that Tata Motors has pulled off something like this. A few years ago, a Tata Hexa pulled off something similar with a Boeing 737-800 airplane. The Boeing has an operational weight of 41,140 kg. In that case, the Hexa, underpinned by a ladder-on-frame chassis, was powered by a 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine.
