Skoda is working on a number of battery-powered models with the Enyaq being the centre of attention in recent times. Earlier this year, Skoda announced the entry of the Enyaq electric SUV in India sometime next year. Besides the Enyaq, Skoda is working a multiple range of electric SUVs, including the Elroq which was teased a couple of days ago

The Czech carmaker has teased a new compact battery-powered SUV which supposedly will be slotted below the Enyaq. Skoda has also confirmed that the Elroq will be based on the same MEB modular EV architecture from the Volkswagen Group as the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe.

Skoda Elroq: Expected stlying

Elroq is one of the six new BEVs, Skoda is planning to launch by the end of the decade. It will be based on the Czech carmaker’s new Modern Solid design language. In the teaser image, Skoda highlights the unique lighting setup seen on the upcoming battery-powered SUV. It is characterised by its split headlight design with the broken LED DRL strip running across the bonnet line.

The slimmer upper section seamlessly extends into the wings. The Škoda lettering is now prominently displayed on the bonnet, reflecting Škoda’s corporate identity. The innovative Tech-Deck Face is a modern, recognisable reinterpretation of the traditional Škoda grille, with a flatter and wider appearance which is flanked by LED Matrix headlights. That said, Skoda has kept most of the visual highlights of the Elroq still under dark.

Skoda Elroq: Will it come to India?

The world premiere of the Skoda Elroq is slated for autumn this year. Besides the Elroq and Enyaq, Skoda teased another compact electric SUV named ‘Epiq’ earlier in March this year. In all likelihood, the Epiq will also be underpinned by the MEB modular electric architecture. Therefore, the Elroq will be slotted in between the Epiq and the Enyaq.

While Enyaq is a certainty in India as a fully-imported CBU model, there might still be question marks about Elroq. If and when launched in India, it is likely to go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
