Six most affordable cars with ADAS

Express Drives lists the cheapest vehicles that are equipped with ADAS tech in India.

ADAS cars

In the last couple of years, the Indian automobile sector has seen a paradigm shift in the field of safety. With Indian automobile brands receiving a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, the manufacturers are upping the game by introducing state-of-the-art Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). We find out which are the most affordable cars that come with ADAS.

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai has recently updated the Venue and the major feature is the ADAS suite. This safety feature is available in both the 1-lite turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel. As expected the top trim, the SX(O), comes with ADAS. The turbo petrol has an output of 118bhp and 172Nm. It is available with two transmissions — a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed manual. The diesel, on the other hand, churns out 114bhp and 250Nm and only comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

VariantPrice
Turbo PetrolRs 12.44 lakh to Rs 13.38 lakh
DieselRs 13.19 lakh and Rs 13.34 lakh

Honda Elevate

The new kid on the block, the Honda Elevate, is the latest to join the crowded mid-size SUV segment. The Big H might have entered this segment but it is currently the most affordable mid-size SUV which offers ADAS technology or as the Japanese car manufacturer likes to call it, Honda Sensing. Only the ZX variant comes with this safety feature and it is paired with two transmission options — a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. It is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 119bhp and 145Nm of power.

Honda City

One of India’s most well-known sedan nameplate, the Honda City, comes with ADAS tech like its SUV sibling, the Elevate. What is interesting to note is that apart from the entry-level variant, SV, the rest three trims —V, VX and ZX — all are equipped with the ADAS suite. The three variants are available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. The City continues to be powered by the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 119bhp and 145Nm of power.

V MTRs 12.51 lakh to 12.59 lakh
VX MTRs 13.63 lakh to Rs 13.71 lakh

Hyundai Verna

Love it or hate it, you certainly can’t ignore the Hyundai Verna’s space-age design. Like the Venue, the Verna SX(O) variant in both the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol option comes equipped with ADAS suite or as Hyundai calls it SmartSense. In the former powertrain, only the CVT version gets this technology. The 1.5-litre NA pumps out 113bhp and 143.8Nm while the turbo has an output of 157bhp and 253Nm of torque. The turbo comes mated to either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.

MG Astor

MG is one of the first automobile manufacturers that introduced the ADAS function in the more affordable range with the Astor. This SUV offers this additional safety feature on two variants — the Sharp and Savvy and only on the automatic versions. MG has ensured that both the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.3-litre turbo come equipped with it. The former offers 108bhp and 144Nm while the latter has an output of 138bhp and 220Nm of torque.

The 1.5-litre turbo petrol has a power output of 158bhp and 253Nm and is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic.
