BMW has launched the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe in India. Bookings for the new entry-level luxury sedan commenced last week whereas deliveries for the same will begin today. Locally assembled at BMW’s production facility in Chennai, the 2 Series Gran Coupe is available in two variants: 218 M Sport and 218 M Sport Pro, priced at Rs 46.90 and Rs 48.90 lakh (both ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 2.50 lakh dearer than its predecessor.
The second-gen 2 Series is underpinned by the same UKL2 platform as its predecessor. This means that its wheelbase and its width remains unchanged at 2,670 mm and 1,800 mm, respectively. However, the overall length has been increased by 20 mm, totaling 4,546 mm, while the height has increased by 25 mm to 1,445 mm. This leads to a cargo capacity of 430 liters but it does not include a space-saver spare wheel.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Exterior Updates
The 2025 BMW 2 Series features a series of subtle yet noticeable design updates. At the front, the most prominent change is a smaller, sportier nose highlighted by a redesigned blacked-out grille panel inspired by the BMW M range. The reprofiled kidney grille is now illuminated which is flanked with sleeker LED headlamps featuring updated internal elements.

While the side profile remains largely the same—with its coupe-like roofline and compact tail—the wheel arches have been enlarged to accommodate the new 18-inch M Light Y-spoke wheels. At the rear, the windshield merges smoothly into the boot, enhancing the car’s aerodynamic silhouette. Additionally, the new headlight design adopts a more angular form, adding to the vehicle’s sharper, modern look.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Interiors & Features
Inside the cabin, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes standard with the M Sport package and showcases the brand’s signature minimalist design, featuring a clean layout with minimal physical buttons. At the heart of the dashboard is a curved glass display that seamlessly integrates a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Both screens are driver-oriented and run on BMW’s latest OS9 operating system.

The seats and door panels are upholstered in a rich dark mocha brown, with additional lighter colour options available. Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, automatic parking, a comprehensive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite, and a digital key. This key enables remote control of key functions such as locking and unlocking, cabin pre-conditioning, and boot operation.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Powertrain
The latest iteration of 2-Series Gran Coupe is only offered with a petrol engine option, as of now. Under its hood, the sedan gets a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that kicks out 154 bhp and 230 Nm of peak torque. The outgoing model received a larger and more powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that dished out 188 bhp. Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
