Just when you thought you’d seen it all, a recent Mahindra Thar road rage incident will send shivers down your spine. The SUV was overtaking a couple of other cars and grazed past a scooter, hitting the two-wheeler. The man on the scooter got up from the accident only to be hit by the Thar again. This incident took place at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and was caught on CCTV.
Hit-and-run sends shockwaves in Jammu
The horrific accident took place in the afternoon when a scooterist was hit by a Thar. Instead of stopping the SUV and helping the 65-year-old man victim, the driver purposely reversed the vehicle and hit him. CCTV showed that the man stepped out of the vehicle and walked up to the scooterist, who was lying on the road, and was pointing his finger at him. Without providing any assistance, the driver walked back into the SUV and drove away.
The scooter rider, Kamal Dutta, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, was critically injured and remains unconscious. According to reports, the passers-by shifted the victim to the Government Medical College in Jammu. Speaking to the media, Dutta’s son, Yog Raj Bakshi, claimed that his father is suffering a brain haemorrhage due to a fractured skull. He is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Police launch a manhunt to nab the accused
According to TheNewsNow, the police have identified the driver, Manan Anand, son of businessman Rajinder Anand, who is reportedly absconding. Police said that the owner of the vehicle and the father of the accused have been arrested. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
Initially, Manan Anand was booked under Section 281 for rash and negligent driving and 125(a) for endangering the life or personal safety of others. After the doctor’s report and analysis of the CCTV video, the accused has filed Section 109, attempt to murder. Police have confirmed that the Thar vehicle has been seized from the Nanak Nagar area.
District Police Jammu has officially released a statement saying, “Following the Thar-scooty collision near Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, on 27.07.2025, police have invoked Sec 109 BNS after eyewitnesses revealed deliberate intent to harm. The Thar was seized, its owner detained, & the hunt is on to nab the absconding driver. Investigation continues.”
