Last month, Express Drives reported that Ford has filed a patent for the four-generation Endeavour India. The full-sized SUV could be assembled at the American automobile manufacturer’s Chennai factory after the company did a U-turn and decided not to sell it. Here’s all you need to know about the Endeavour.

Ford Endeavour: Exteriors

Internationally the Endeavour is branded as the Everest. Due to its 50mm wider and longer dimensions and imposing front grille, the Endeavour has a road presence like no other vehicle. The Endeavour gets a black honey front grille with twin horizontal slats cutting across it. Based on the trim, the slats are either in chrome or blacked out. The SUV sports C-shaped LED DRLs, twin cube LED headlights, LED fog lamps and a chrome tip lower bumper. At the rear, the Ford SUV has a thick band that houses LED tail lamps and the Everest brand. The SUV’s wheels start from 17-inch to 21-inch alloy wheels based on the variant. In the global market, it comes in four trims — Ambiente, Trend, Sport and Platinum.

The seven-seater SUV has a predominately black cabin with ambient light on the front passenger’s dashboard side. For more convenience, it gets two gloveboxes. Apart from the entry-level Ambiente that gets a 10-inch infotainment system, the other three variants come with a 12-inch touch screen. All these devices are vertically shaped like in the Volvo and MG Hector and come standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Platinum sports a 12.4-inch instrument cluster while the rest of the variants get an 8-inch one. It also comes with a 360-degree camera, a wireless phone charger and multiple charging slots including USB access and a 12V socket.

Ford Endeavour: Engine Specs and Off-Roading

The Endeavour is powered by two diesel engines — 206bhp 2-litre Bi-Turbo with 500Nm and 3-litre V6 with an output of 247bhp and 600Nm. Both the powertrains are mated to a 10-speed automatic and an e-shifter to switch from rear-wheel-drive to 4-wheel-drive. There are multiple drive modes — Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul and Slippery for on-road and for off-road there are Mud/Ruts and Sand modes. The Platinum version comes standard with 4×4 while it’s optional for Trend and Sport. The Ambiente, on the other hand, comes standard with 4×2. The Endeavour has a maximum water wading of 800mm at a speed of 7kmph or less.
