Renault is facing issues with the 800cc version of the Kwid, and have issued a voluntary recall to rectify the issue. Although Renault is yet to issue a statement as to how many vehicles have been affected an official letter of the recall that was first floated by a Team-BHP user, that indicates the recall. This means that up until we receive an official word of the recall, it might be erroneous to guess as to what exactly caused the recall. However what we can say at this point is that Renault has sent out letters to Kwid 800cc owners to inform them of the recall, asking them to make their way to the nearest Renault service centre to be inspected. The letter mentions that the workshop would inspect the steering system for overall functionality and safety. The workshop will then ascertain whether the car in question is affected, and if it is the repairs will be carried out by the workshop at no extra cost to the customer.

The Renault Kwid which is available with two engine trims, 800cc and 1, use the identical electric power steering racks, however up until now, there is no word of a recall for the 1.0 litre Kwid. Now the good thing is Renault were able to anticipate a probable issue and then get a recall in place. If you have a Renault Kwid 800cc and are yet to receive a letter we advise that you contact your local Renault service station and enquire whether your car is among the affected cars.
