There’s been plenty of buzz surrounding the return of the Renault Duster, and recent rumors suggested that its launch could be pushed to 2026. However, according to the latest media reports, Renault has confirmed that the timeline remains unchanged. The third-generation Duster is still expected to arrive in India later this year.
New-gen Renault Duster: Two Versions
Some good news for Duster fans as Acko Drive has reported that it is expected make its return this year. The Duster was globally launched in 2023 and was available in the European market in 2024. Renault will offer the Duster in both 5-seater and 7-seater versions. The new Duster will be built on the CMF-B LS (Common Module Family) platform, developed by Dacia and rebadged for Renault. It will go head-to-head with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Thar Roxx, and Toyota Hyryder.Â
New-gen Renault Duster: No diesel option
Renault is set to launch the new Duster with petrol engine options only. The SUV is likely to be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, which was previously seen in the Nissan Kicks and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Reports suggest that Renault might also offer an entry-level Duster with a 1-litre turbo petrol engine, the same one found in the Kiger. The 1.3-litre engine delivers 160 Nm of torque with the manual transmission, while the CVT version produces 152 Nm. If this engine is offered in the Duster, we could see even more power and torque than the Kiger. The Duster will likely come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission for a more engaging driving experience.

The cabin will feature a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, a wireless phone charger, and dual-zone climate control for ultimate comfort. The Duster will offer a panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a high-quality six-speaker sound system.
On the safety front, the Duster will feature the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). In addition to ADAS, the SUV will be equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders, pretensioners, and a 360-degree camera for added security.
