The Mahindra-born electric SUVs are flying off the dealership, and the latest to join the bandwagon is the Odisha Governor, as his office took delivery of three XEV 9e. A couple of videos of the Mahindra flagship model were posted from Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati’s official social media account. The governor’s three XEV 9e EVs are all-black in colour with the national emblem on the front grille and the tailgate. In another video, the three electric SUVs, along with a couple of two-wheelers, were showcased in front of the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Â
Mahindra XEV 9e: What is it?
Mahindra is available in three variants — Pack One, Pack Two and Pack Three, and the company has recently started the deliveries of the top model. The XEV 9e comes in two battery options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The entry-level version produces 228 bhp with a claimed range of 542 km.
The top variant, on the other hand, makes 281 bhp and a range of 656 km on a single charge. Both battery packs have the same 380 Nm of torque. The XEV 9e comes with multiple drive modes — Range, Everyday, Race, Snow and Custom. The XEV 9e has a ground clearance of 207 mm, a boot space of 663 litres and frunk volume of 150 litres.
Mahindra XEV 9e: Charging time
Both the 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries can be charged with an AC and a DC charger. In the 59 kWh version, it takes 6 hours to fully charge from 0 – 100% in six hours with an 11 kW AC charger and 8.7 hours with a 7.2 kW charger. With a 140 kW charger, it only takes 20 minutes to juice up from 20% to 100%.
The 79 kWh battery takes 8 hours and 11.7 hours when it’s plugged to an 11 kW and 7.2 kW charger. With a 180 kW DC charger, it takes only 20 minutes to juice up from 20% to 100%.
