Nissan Motor India has addressed numerous customer queries with the launch of the Magnite CNG variant. This eco-friendly model will be available at official dealerships starting June 1. The Japanese automaker confirmed that the SUV will come equipped with a government-approved CNG retrofit kit, priced at an additional Rs 74,999.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The New Nissan Magnite has been a phenomenal product for us and has led the success story in India. With a view to meet the requirements of customers, Nissan Dealers will provide an alternate fuel option in the form of a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit which will be carried out at the authorised fitment centres for customers. We are confident that this move will enhance the popular compact SUV’s value proposition and practicality.”

Nissan Magnite: What to expect?

The Magnite CNG will be powered by the 1-litre naturally aspirated engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Nissan, currently, has not revealed the output of the CNG, but the petrol engine model churns out 71 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3,400 – 3,600 rpm.

When asked about the possibility of introducing a 5-speed AMT option for the new Magnite CNG variant, Vatsa hinted that more details would be revealed in due course. This suggests Nissan might have something in the works, potentially surprising customers soon. At present, only Tata Motors offers AMT options with its Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG models.

The CNG Kit is fully developed and manufactured by Motozen as per the country’s Regulatory Standards. The fitment of these kits will be carried out at government-authorised fitment centres. Vatsa said, “The Magnite will be equipped with a 12 kg single CNG cylinder tank, which will offer ample boot space for two large suitcases and some smaller bags.”
