Skoda has officially released design sketches of the new generation Kodiaq on its website, ahead of its global premiere on October 4. The official sketches reveal the exterior design of the upcoming SUV. The Czech carmaker had previously shared images of its interiors and powertrain details of the new-gen Kodiaq.
New-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Exterior styling
As per the official renderings, the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq looks a little boxier than its predecessor, with the round edges giving way to sharper edges and a taller stance. The front fascia gets a sculpted bonnet, and a signature Skoda vertically-slatted grille with a blacked-out treatment flanked by a second-generation split LED matrix headlamp setup. The front bumper has been reprofiled since it houses sleeker and vertically-oriented fog lamps.

The boxy profile is amplified thanks to the squared-off wheel arches which can be filled with alloy wheels of sizes ranging from 17-inch to 20-inch units. At the rear, it gets new wider C-shaped LED taillamps extending towards the centre and connected to each other by a red bar. Another visual highlight is the optional D-pillar trim in a unique Dark Chrome finish.
The new Kodiaq will be based on the VW Group’s MQB modular platform and will continue to be offered in 5- and 7-seat configurations. In terms of dimensions, the new Kodiaq will be 4,758mm in length, making it 61mm and 59mm longer than before compared to the current 5-seat and 7-seat versions, respectively. However, height, width and wheelbase of the SUV remain unchanged.
New-gen Skoda Kodiaq: Powertrain specs
Globally, the new-gen Kodiaq will be offered with the same engine options as its German cousin— the new Volkswagen Tiguan. These include a 1.5-litre TSI mild-hybrid turbo petrol motor, a 2.0-litre TSI 4WD turbo petrol mill and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit that will come in two states of tune. All these engine options are likely to be paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

Additionally, Skoda is also expected to offer a plug-in hybrid version of the new Kodiaq in select markets. It will use the 1.5-litre TSI engine paired with a 25.7kWh battery pack that offers an electric-only range of over 100 km. This plug-in hybrid powertrain is expected to be linked with a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
