The Mahindra Thar Roxx has signed up to service the country by joining the Nagaland Police. It is the first Thar Roxx to officially join the police services in India. The police, in the past, across the country have taken up SUVs as its official vehicle like the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, Mahindra Bolero, Toyota Innova, Tata Sumo and Scorpio. Mahindra Thar Roxx: What are the changes?
The Thar Roxx is an off-roading SUV that gets four-wheel-drive plus it is equipped with state-of-the-art safety features. Unlike the older three-door version, the Thar Roxx adds practical space. In terms of specific customization, the Thar Roxx is white in colour with blue stripes and police written on it on the side body panel. The upper portion of the front and rear windshields have a police sticker while the front wheel arches house car flag posts. If you have a keen eye then you will notice the window visors on all the doors.
Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L variant: What is it?
The Nagaland Police has opted for the top-of-the-line Thar Roxx AX7L, which is available in four variants. It comes standard in 4×4 and gets two manual and two automatic options. The AX7L range starts from Rs 21.89 lakh to Rs 23.39 lakh, ex-showroom. It is packed with features like Level 2 ADAS, two 10.25-inch displays — one for the infotainment system and the other is the instrument cluster, front and rear view camera, blind spot view monitor, connected tech, in built Alexa for voice command, 8-speaker sound system with a sub-woofer, etc.
The AX7L is only available in petrol and diesel and rea-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive. The 2.2-litre diesel produces 172 bhp and 370 Nm. The petrol, on the other hand, get a 2-litre engine that churns out 174 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. The diesel powertrain offers both 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission, while the petrol AX7L trim only gets the former gearbox.
