MG Motor has announced a massive price reduction for its Hector recently. The 5-seater mid-size SUV has witnessed a drop in prices by up to Rs 1.29 lakh depending on the variant on offer. Available in seven trim levels, namely Style, Shine, Smart, Smart EX, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro, updated prices of Hector start at Rs 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom).
The SAIC-owned carmaker hasn’t revealed the official reason for the latest price reduction but it could be either due to the dwindling sales of Hector or as an offer with onset of the festive season. We presume it is the former due to stiff competition from rivals like Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N.
MG Hector prices reduced
With the latest price revision, Hector is now priced between Rs 14.73 lakh-21.93 lakh (both ex-showroom). The least price reduction is seen in the base Style variant with Rs 27,000 slashed whereas the highest price drop of Rs 1.29 lakh is witnessed in the diesel manual variant of the Smart Pro trim.

MG Hector Plus prices reduced
Not only Hector, but MG Motor has also cut down prices of Hector’s six- and seven-seater siblings by up to Rs 1.37 lakh, depending on the variants on offer. The highest price drop is witnessed by the seven-seater variant of the top-spec Sharp Pro diesel trim. The base seven-seat Smart petrol variant of Hector Plus has seen the least price reduction of Rs 50,000.

MG Hector, Hector Plus powertrain specs
Both SUVs share the same powertrain options between themselves including a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel unit. The former kicks out 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque while being mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The oil burner, on the other hand, pushes out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque and linked exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
