JSW MG Motor announced its MG Select programme last year under which the Chinese-owned British carmaker will launch fully-imported CBU (Completely Built Unit) models in India. The first model to be launched under this new programme with the Cyberster. The all-electric roadster made its global debut in 2023 and made its first public appearance in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year.

While we had earlier anticipated a possible launch in early 2025, MG is yet to officially launch the Cyberster in India. Pre-bookings for the same commenced earlier in March this year at a token amount of Rs 51,000, either at an MG Select dealership or via the company’s official website. The electric sports car is finally all set to hit the Indian roads from the first week of July.

Ahead of its official launch, MG has started dispatching units of the Cyberster to the Select showrooms. A video uploaded on YouTube channel Automobile With Bruce confirms the same where a swanky red-coloured MG Cyberster is brought to a showroom by a trailer truck. Inspired by the legendary MG B Roadster from the 1960s, the MG Cyberster combines classic roadster charm with futuristic design and cutting-edge technology. And it surely catches the attention of all bystanders.

MG Cyberster: Expected powertrain specs

MG hasn’t officially revealed the specification of the India-spec Cyberster till now but we expect it to be the same as the UK-spec model. The UK-spec MG Cyberster is available in two variants: Trophy and GT. The Trophy features a single-motor, rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup, while the GT comes equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration.

The entry-level RWD variant is powered by a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 310 bhp and 475 Nm of torque. This allows the Cyberster to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 193 kmph. A similar configuration is expected to be offered in the India-spec version of the Cyberster.
