Mercedes Benz has announced its sales performance for the first nine months of 2023. Between January and September, the German luxury carmaker sold 12,768 new cars which resulted in a 11% YoY growth over the corresponding period the previous year. The company witnessed growth despite facing supply challenges in Q3.
In a press release, Mercedes stated that high demand for flagship models comprising S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMGs and EQS in the same period, grew up to 22%. The total volume of the TEV (Top End Vehicle) segment comprised 25% of YTD sales. The carmaker is experiencing a strong festive demand which is driven by an attractive product portfolio, positive customer sentiments, and strong market fundamentals.
The company’s BEV (battery electric vehicle) portfolio comprising the EQB, EQE 500 SUV and the updated EQS 580 luxury sedan, continued its customer preference. The LWB E-Class remained the highest-selling model for Mercedes-Benz India. However, the company admitted to a supply-chain bottleneck which constrained the availability of key SUVs like the GLA, GLC, and GLS during this period.

Focus on sustainability
As the world celebrates “Sustainability Day” on 26th October, Mercedes Benz has dedicated October as the ‘Sustainability Month’ with innovative initiatives planned to raise awareness on the topic of sustainability and sustainable practices. Mercedes-Benz will support 50% of the road tax for any EQB, EQS and EQE SUV sold in October.
The 50% support on the road tax is for those states where road tax is applicable at the time of registration of electric vehicles. In addition, Mercedes is offering free charging for all EV users in the network throughout October.
