Mercedes Benz has launched a new Grand Edition of the AMG G63 in India at a whopping price tag of Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom). Globally limited to 1,000 units, only 25 units of the limited edition luxury performance SUV have been reserved for the Indian market who are pre-existing owners of Maybach, AMG, and S-Class.
Mercedes AMG G63 Grand Edition: Exterior
Design of the AMG G63 Grand Edition remains familiar to the standard model but gets a few cosmetic enhancements to distinguish itself from the latter. The exterior is highlighted by the Kalahari gold magno shade, which traces the direct lineage of the vehicle to the first ever G model from 1979.
The limited edition model is wrapped in an exclusive MANUFAKTUR night black magno with contrasting gold-coloured details. For the first time, a Grand Edition model features the AMG logo and the Mercedes three-pointed star in Kalahari gold magno. Further, the Affalterbach emblem of the performance brand is slapped onto the bonnet, also in Kalahari gold magno.

The Kalahari gold magno treatment has been carried forward to the inlays of the front and rear bumpers, the optical underride protection in the front, the Mercedes star in the spare wheel inlay and the spare wheel ring are also finished in this colour. The SUV rides on 22-inch AMG forged alloy wheels painted in tech gold with matt black central locking nut and a Mercedes star.
Mercedes AMG G63 Grand Edition: Interior
The black and gold treatment trickles inside the cabin as well, with an ‘AMG’ emblem on the black door sill trims and illuminated borders greeting the occupants. The seats are finished in G Manufaktur black nappa leather with contrasting gold stitching. Plaques with a gold AMG logo and gold edging are set into the backrests. The floor mats are also finished in black and decorated with gold stitching.

The roof grab handles are finished in nappa leather. The trim piece in the inlay of the grab handle on the passenger side is carbon with copper thread and bears a high-quality badge with the “Grand Edition” lettering. Other trim parts of the interior are finished in carbon with copper thread. The AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre features steering wheel clasp with a G63 plaque.
Mercedes AMG G63 Grand Edition: Powertrain
Powering the AMG G63 Grand Edition is the same 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine that powers the regular AMG G63. This unit dishes out 578 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque, while transmission duties are carried out by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Power is sent to all four wheels via the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system. As for performance, the AMG G63 can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds and clock a top speed of 220 kmph.
